GEM AI Help | Workflow and Troubleshooting

GEM AI Help

Choose a goal, follow the real GEM workflow, verify the result, and escalate with diagnostics when needed.

START WITH WHAT YOU NEED

Add or find a video
Open Media Library. Use Open Imports or Import Folder for a manual import, or authorize a watched folder under Settings & Consent and choose Scan Folders. A successful result means the real video appears in the Media list. Supported formats include MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM.

Generate clip candidates
In Media Library, select the video, open the Clips tab, and choose Generate Clips. A successful result means multiple candidates appear with real source timestamps. Double-click a candidate or choose Preview Clip to inspect it.

Review and export a clip
Select a candidate and choose Approve, Maybe, or Reject. Adjust timing with Trim + Explain when needed. Approved clips can be saved with Export Approved. A successful export appears under GEM_Output/Approved_Clips/ with its supporting metadata.

Prepare a platform handoff
Choose Handoff to Platform, select the destination, and create the handoff package. Use Open Last Handoff Folder to verify the media and copy the caption or hashtags. GEM prepares the package; it does not silently auto-post.

WHEN SOMETHING ISN'T WORKING

My video does not appear
Confirm the format is supported, the file still exists locally, and the folder is authorized under Settings & Consent. Return to Media Library and choose Scan Folders. GEM avoids duplicate imports, so an existing copy may already be listed.

Generate Clips does not start
Make sure a real video is selected and its source path is readable. Run the local Health Check to confirm core files and FFmpeg are available. Restart GEM if an interrupted task is still shown as active.

Offline transcription is unavailable
Caption transcription uses the bundled local Whisper package and model. If either component is missing, GEM stays offline and reports what is missing instead of downloading it automatically. Other clip-review and export work can continue.

I cannot find an exported clip
The candidate must be approved before Export Approved will run. Check GEM_Output/Approved_Clips/ and review the activity message for the exact output path or failure reason.

The platform app did not open
Launch Platform App is a convenience action, not the handoff itself. Your package remains local. Choose Open Last Handoff Folder, verify its contents, then open the destination platform manually.

RUN A LOCAL HEALTH CHECK

Open System, then Security Center, and run Health Check. Also open Settings & Consent to review startup status, active folder grants, storage access, network guard state, and diagnostic checks. These checks are read-only and do not modify media decisions.

REPORT AN ISSUE SAFELY

On the System Dashboard, choose Show Ideas & Issues Log. Select Issue, enter a short title, describe where the problem occurred, what you expected, and what actually happened, then choose Save Entry. Use Export My Log to create a user-reviewed support bundle. Review it before sharing; it should not include personal videos or platform credentials.

HUMAN ESCALATION

Email GEM AI Support at eddiemcghee1989@georgeedward.info. Include what you were trying to do, what happened, and the app version. If useful, attach the Ideas & Issues JSON bundle only after reviewing it. Do not send personal videos, passwords, tokens, or platform credentials. Support is human-reviewed, and response times may vary during the demo phase.

HOW TO KNOW THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED

Import is complete when the real video appears in Media Library. Clip generation is complete when candidates with real timestamps can be previewed. Export is complete when the approved media and metadata exist under GEM_Output/Approved_Clips/. Platform preparation is complete when the local handoff folder contains the files you reviewed and chose to upload.
